Based on those footprints and the fact as you said, it will be mud for a while ... have you thought about tile or hardwood vs carpet?
"YES!" Beautiful hardwood floors for me! Imagine what the dog will do with his muddy feet. I guess the kids will have to walk him on the street and pick up pooey with the plastic bag for a while. They'll be so thrilled ; )I HATES the plastic poop filled bag!
Teach him to use the toilet. So much more sanitary.
